How long does it take to settle my workers’ compensation claim?

Return to FAQ Videos

Transcript:

It’s a very common question, the duration, or how long it takes to settle a case and for a person to actually get paid. In California worker’s compensation cases that really depends on the type of injury, the length of treatment, and how long it takes for a person to reach what is called reaching their maximum medical improvement, it’s an MMI status. Once that process is determined by doctors, then the legal process, the time it takes can vary. But a good benchmark is anywhere from six months on a quick case, to a year and a half for a more longer complicated case.
